Ed Bergo
Principal, Project Director

Four decades of experience, founding three market research companies in three states, and expertise in retail, healthcare, high tech, and packaged goods, all serve to make Ed well known and well respected in the world of market research. Ed’s achievements in marketing were honored and recognized in 2004 when he was named Marketer of the Year by the Phoenix chapter of the American Marketing Association. Ed serves an advisory role at WestGroup and continues to work directly with select clients.

Prior to joining the supplier side of market research, Ed served in U.S. and European marketing operations for Johnson Wax for 14 years, conducting consumer and advertising research. It was during this time that he was involved in some of the early applications of perceptual mapping and multidimensional scaling of product attributes.

Ed has been a critical member of the WestGroup family since 1989 when he teamed with Ted Apostol to acquire ownership of the company. He remains a principal of WestGroup and serves on the Board of Directors as Corporate Vice President.

Ed has a long history of active involvement with the Marketing Research Association and the American Marketing Association. He is a past-president of the Phoenix Chapter of AMA and served on the MRA national board of directors. Ed has presented at regional and national conferences, participated as a moderator in two AMA Leadership Conferences, and published multiple articles in association publications.

Ed is a graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN, and completed postgraduate work in Marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. During the past few years, Ed has been gradually ‘retiring’, although it’s hard to see any concrete evidence of him actually slowing down. Ed and his wife Phyllis also own Sandia Research in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and enjoy traveling and visits with their children and grandchildren.
