Arizonans in Favor of Lottery

Nearly three in four (73%) Arizonans say if they voted “today” they would vote to keep the Arizona Lottery in place (16% would vote against it and 11% were undecided).

As the November voting date approaches, this is an important finding albeit not a surprising one. This special research question was asked in the June, July and August versions of WestGroup’s monthly omnibus study, WestTrack, on behalf of the Preserve the Lottery Committee. WestGroup also conducts a monthly tracking study on behalf of
the Arizona Lottery that supports this positive finding. During the same three month period the results of the tracking study showed a majority of Arizona residents with an opinion hold a favorable view of the Arizona Lottery.

Four in five (80%) Arizonans agreed with the statement, “The Arizona Lottery is run honestly and with integrity” and three in four (75%) agreed, “The Arizona Lottery is a good way to raise money for the state.”

These results are typical of the findings over the past three years on similar questions about the lottery.

Preserve the Lottery study sample size is 1217 and the margin of error +2.9%.
Arizona Lottery tracking study sample size is 811 and the margin of error 3.5%.
