Arizona Partnership for a New Economy Summary of Findings:
A. Awareness of The New EconomyGreater than one-third (36%) of Arizona residents are familiar with the term The New Economy. Residents with an annual household income of $55K or greater are significantly more likely to be aware of the term (49% vs. 33% of those earning less). As might be expected, residents employed in a white-collar occupation are significantly more likely than those in a blue-collar occupation to be familiar with The New Economy. B. Perception of The New EconomySummary of Comments Arizona residents aware of the term The New Economy are most likely to think it refers to an increase in business or money due to the Internet (19%) and/or an increase in technology or the technology age (17%). Men are significantly more likely than women to feel it involves an increase in technology (27% vs. 7%). An additional one in ten residents (10%) think the New Economy is about the changing economy or the current standings of the economy. Others believe it involves an investment structure and/or the stock market or political influence (each at 8%). A few mentioned job growth and a global economy (both at 4%). Nearly one in five (18%) aware of the term were unable to give any type of definition of The New Economy.
