Arizonans Speak Out On:

The new mascot for the Arizona Diamondbacks (D. Baxter, the BOBcat)

BaxterQUESTION:
The Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team recently introduced a new mascot, D. Baxter, the BOBcat. Do you think this is an excellent, good, fair, poor or very poor choice as a mascot for the Arizona Diamondbacks?

Overall, more than one of four thought D. Baxter was a good (23%) or excellent (5%) choice as a mascot for the D-Backs. Eighteen percent felt the selection was a fair choice, one of eight (13%) saw it as a poor choice and 3% said they thought the BOBcat was a very poor choice.

More than two of five respondents aged 29 or younger felt the mascot was a good or excellent choice (40% good, 4% excellent).

Women (34%) were more likely than men (23%) to feel the selection of D. Baxter was a good or excellent choice (women-27% good, 7% excellent; men-20% good, 4% excellent).

Residents of metro Tucson (20%) were less likely to rate the choice as good or excellent than were respondents in metro Phoenix (30%) or other parts of the state (32%). (Tucson 15% good, 5% excellent; Phoenix 25% good, 5% excellent; residents of other areas of the state 26% good, 6% excellent.)

Nearly two of five (38%) respondents did not offer an opinion. A lack of an opinion was particularly high among respondents residing in Tucson (51%). Inability to give an opinion rose with the age of the respondent (29 or younger-19%, 30 to 49-34%, 50 or older-45%).
