Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Wins High Marks from
Arizona Insured
PHOENIX - Nearly 9 of 10 Arizonans are satisfied with their health insurance
company, with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona receiving the highest
ratings. An ongoing, statewide survey of health insurance customers by
WestGroup Research of Phoenix shows 87 percent of those with an opinion
reported being either "very" or "somewhat" satisfied
with their health insurance company, with 49 percent saying they were
"very satisfied."
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, the largest health insurance company
in Arizona, garnered the highest satisfaction ratings, with 90 percent
"very" or "somewhat" satisfied and 53 percent "very
satisfied," based on 735 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona customers
interviewed. United HealthCare of Arizona had the second-best rating with
86 percent satisfied (46 percent of whom were "very satisfied,"
based on 536 customers interviewed), followed by CIGNA (85 percent "satisfied,"
of whom 42 percent were "very satisfied," 766 customers interviewed)
and Aetna (84 percent "satisfied," of whom 41 percent were "very
satisfied," 427 customers interviewed). A total of 5,652 Arizonans
were surveyed by telephone during 2001.
This study was conducted as part of WestGroup Research's ongoing monthly
omnibus study, WestTrack Market Monitor, throughout 2001. WestTrack is
sponsored by a number of businesses and organizations throughout the state,
including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. The margin of error for the
study overall is less than ± 2 percent at 95 percent confidence.
WestTrack, Arizona's oldest and largest ongoing omnibus study, has been
in continuous operation since 1971.
