Arizonans Speak Out On:

New Television Shows

QUESTION:
Of the new shows on television which of these do you like the most? Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, 21, Greed or Survivor.
(The names of the shows were rotated for each interview to avoid position bias.)

Approximately one third (34%) of the respondents said they most liked Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. This show was more popular among respondents residing in the metro Phoenix area (37%) than among those living in Metro Tucson (25%). Positive attitudes toward the show were not significantly affected by the annual household income of respondents (35% among respondents living in households of less than $25,000 and 39% among respondents with incomes of $55,000 or more).

Survivor was the favorite of 15 % of the sample. The younger a respondent was, the more likely they were to prefer this show; respondents below the age of 30 were more than twice as likely as respondents ages 50 or older to most like this show (29 or younger-23%, 30 to 49-16% and 50 or older-10%).

Neither Greed (3%) or 21 (2%) received much support.

About one of four (27%) said they did not like any of the four shows. Nearly two of five (38%) respondents living outside the metro areas of Phoenix or Tucson said none of the shows appealed to them. Men (30%) were slightly more likely than women (23%) to say they did not like any of the shows.

One of six (16%) respondents said they could not pick a single favorite among the four shows, and 3% said they liked all four of the shows equally.
