Dr. David R. Gourley, DBA
Dr. Dave Gourley directs and assists in research projects of
all types. He retired in 1996 from his position as Professor of Marketing
at Arizona State University. He has been actively involved in the direction
of WestGroup Research through his position as Secretary on the Board of
Directors since 1989.
Dave is a graduate from Miami University (BS), University of Toledo (MBA), Indiana University (Ph.D.), and provides the organization with both academic and business experience. He spent eight years in sales and sales management with Mobil Oil Co. and Ohio Bell Telephone Co.
His areas of expertise are in Strategic Marketing and Marketing Research. He has supervised over 250 student research projects. He has also consulted with over 50 firms, both local and national. In addition, he has has spent 25 years specializing in the area of health care marketing research.
Involvement in the community has been one of Dave's major contributions. He served as President of the Phoenix Chapter of the American Marketing Association in 1969-70. Dave was also past President of the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Board of Directors of Valley of the Sun United Way. In addition, he was the President of the University Club Board for two years, board member of Tempe St. Luke's Hospital, and Lemon-Aid Marketing Services. Most recently he was the East Valley coordinator for the 1998 American Heart Walk.
